Why?
The Hulk is Hercules in this movie. What other reason could you need to watch this movie?
What in the world?
Hercules is trying to figure out why he is the way he is and ends up having to stop a crazy cult of Hera.
Personal thoughts
This movie was great. I mean the gods just being in space was amazing. Why are they portrayed as alien type beings I don't know but I love it. The CGI monsters and such looked amazing and unrealistic. I just loved everything about this movie. It just did not care about the original Hercules which makes it a true gem. I mean for crying out loud you give the final boss a flame sword and he does a bunch of spins. What more could you really ask for? There is so much in this movie that I want to talk about but don't want to make this review too long. The women in this movie though could have used a wardrobe change though. They were some of the most scantily clad women I have seen in a movie for a long time.
Score
I have to give this movie a 10 out of 10. This is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. The mechanical monsters being dropped in from space to kill Hercules is top notch. The way that important people die in this movie is just so anticlimactic that it's beautiful. Zeus saving Hercules as a baby is also just top notch. At the beginning of the movie, there was a whole story about creation. The entire universe being made from an exploding jar is spectacular. Also the four elements being light, dark, fire, and matter is beyond strange and just adds to the beauty of this film.
The bear (slight spoilers)
This scene itself deserves an entire section and nothing less. This happens immediately after Hercules is found as a baby. We get a little "montage" of Hercules growing up and right before anything happens he decides to pull a strange tree out of the ground with his bare hands. Don't ask I have no idea. His dad wanders really far and Hera sends a little challenge for Hercules. That challenge, my dear readers, is a bear. The bear goes after Hercules' dad and we hear a scream. So does Hercules. He runs to his dad, but not before throwing the axe he had in his hands. With no weapons to help him out, he goes to find a bear mauling his dad. Now the only bear shots we get are of this bear's face. It's very close and he's growling. They use that shot every time they want to show that it's a real bear. However, whenever they show Hercules fighting the bear it is clearly a guy in a bear suit. It's one of the best things in cinematic history. After the fight, Hercules realizes his dad has died and he is beyond upset. He picks up the bear he fought and throws it into space. He throws it so hard that it turns into the Big Dipper. If you had a couple of guesses at the beginning of this section, I don't know if you would have guessed that this would happen. This was so good and I am so glad it was a part of the movie. I mean even my dad laughed at this part. It was so beautiful.
