Wonder Man

 Why?

When you have nothing to do you start to wonder if there could be something amazing to watch. I honestly couldn't help but going back to Danny Kaye eventually and I am so glad I did.

What in the world?

Danny Kaye plays as himself and you guessed it his twin self. He must testify so that his brother would not have died in vein. Also be prepared for a lot of weird, long comedy acts that do not make much sense.

Personal thoughts

If you couldn't tell, I thought the comedy bits were overdone and should not have been as long as they were. Also the only relatively good comedy act was the first one and even then it still wasn't that good. I did like every other part of the movie so that is something to look forward to.

Score

I would give this movie a 7 out of 10. The comedy acts really brought it down (yes I am harping on the comedy acts because they took up a good third of the movie). Danny Kaye was an absolute treasure to watch as always.

First Lady

Why?

Ok just randomly scrolling thorough Amazon can bring up some amazing things. The instant I saw that the dad from Psych was the main male love interest, I knew that I needed to see it for my own eyes.

What in the world?

A king from some made up country tries to reignite his love with his old flame, an old history teacher. It takes him forever though because apparently he can't use words very well.

Personal thoughts

I think that the movie could have been a lot shorter than it was if they took out the weird bits about learning history. I did love the random interjections of nonsense that they had. There were no original songs which was kind of a disappointment but also a relief.

Score

I would have to give this movie a 7/10. I do have a personal bias for Corbin Bernsen (the man who plays the king) and the dog who will always hold a special place in my heart. The acting is pretty ok as long as you forgive the secondary actors.

Postman Pat the Movie

Why?

If you must know, I get desperate sometimes to watch anything. This movie just looked like something that wasn't too serious or too mind numbingly awful.

What in the world?

A mailman wants to take his wife to Italy for their honeymoon. He sings well and enters a talent show. A very lackluster plot until you get deeper into the movie.

Personal thoughts

I can't believe that this movie for kids has so many references to other famous movies. I think a fun game could be to spot all the movie references that you can. Anyway, I also thought that I was slowly losing my mind but that's just normal.

Score

I have to give this movie a 4/10. Nothing really made sense and the ending just went over my head to be honest. Things seemed to be thrown in there to add subplots and quickly resolve them at the end of the movie.

Maxwell Saves the Day A/K/A An Easter Tale

Why?

Honestly, I cannot in my right mind tell you why I watched this movie. I guess it was just something to put on the ole t.v (Don't judge whatever that sentence was)

What in the world?

An average, everyday bunny challenges stud bunny for the right to deliver eggs. He encounters problems in the evil woods (obviously).

Personal thoughts

I hated the two main characters. No idea why. The main hero of the film had to be the main bad guy who sings the best song of the whole film. Also apparently everything I watch has to have weird songs in it for some reason.

Score

I have to give this film a 6/10. I think above all the bad guy song carried the whole thing. I could have cared less about the random town they showed and the plot was different. Different but boring.

Camelot the Legend

Why?

After seeing a wonderfully awful version of Camelot, I found another one and decided to watch that. I have to say it's pretty bad in comparison but this isn't a compare and contrast.

What in the world?

Camelot the Legend is a telling of King Arthur and his round table. It takes a lot of creative liberties but it has Merlin so I'm not complaining that much.

Personal thoughts

Well it was certainly a surprise when they broke out into "song". The villains were actually annoying and their voices were grating so that was a very pleasant surprise.

Score

I would have to give this movie a 3/10. I personally found the dialogue boring and the animated physical comedy did not pull off what it was trying to accomplish.

The Trumpet of the Swan

Why?

If you want something to watch then try and stay away from this movie. Although it is a family film, it is kind of annoying to watch.

What in the world?

A swan is born mute and is trying to find a way to communicate. He tries but continues to isolate himself until he becomes famous. (I refuse to spoil why.)

Personal thoughts

I found myself constantly waiting for the end of the movie. One of the good things about this movie is that it has its moments. This movie was full of dread.

Score

I would have to give this movie a 1/10. The plot is drawn as thin as it possibly could be, the actors are pretty famous but they pull their weight, and the animation is fine nothing special.

The Court Jester

Why?

If you crave action, suspense, and romance then this is the film for you. The lovable Danny Kaye stars as the main role. (Spoiler if you know who this man is then you might just be an old timer. The film was made in 1955.)

What in the world?

The Court Jester is a tale of bravery where Danny Kaye is trying to save the heir to the throne. Every scene in the movie has something happen so if you get bored easily you shouldn't. I myself struggle with keeping up with movies and found this one thrilling the whole time. This film is family-friendly with only a few kisses and they show a butt so watch out. The film also pays homage to the wonderful Scarlet Pimpernel.

Personal thoughts

The film was a cinematic masterpiece considering the time. A few of the jokes were insensitive but that's to be expected of early film. I found myself laughing a lot. Favorite part had to be the pointless rhymes that they came up with near the end. No spoilers here. I would highly recommend watching this with those who you care about so that you can enjoy many a laugh with them.

Score

One hundred percent give this movie a 10/10. The plot was good, the actors did an excellent job, and the script was great.
