The Slipper and the Rose

Why?

I've been meaning to watch this movie for a while and figured that today was as good as any to dive right in.

What in the world?

Just another rendition of Cinderella but I think it's the best one I have ever seen. Even if Cinderella in the movie is just the most boring part of the whole movie.

Personal thoughts

I loved the songs. Would I listen to these on a monthly basis? Well, some of them, but Cinderella's songs were trash. Just telling the truth. The choreography for the songs is great and if you need some ideas for gymnastics go ahead and watch the one about the crypt. Yeah, that sounds weird, and it is weird now that I think about it. They go out there for a reason maybe but it's not quite clear at the time I type this. They also might have just gone to ye olde family crypt to check up on their relatives. The slippers in the movie were really great and I think you could hold one up to light and have an entire room lit up. They were shiny and so were the jackets in this movie and I don't know why that decision was made but I greatly appreciate it.

Score

Although this movie was long, I have to give it a 7 out of 10. I couldn't help but enjoy the movie and I only really started crashing once Cinderella had been found. Well to the prince of course because then there was another 40 minutes left and I just couldn't help but think I was being tortured at that point. Cinderella was not an intriguing character and I found myself hoping for scenes with her in it to end. The dowager queen (prince's grandmother) was a great character, and she deserved a lot more than what was happening. They didn't like one of the guys which was never really addressed, and they just viewed him with scorn and contempt. Very weird thing to have in a movie without any explanation but that's okay because I watched it all anyway. I definitely would recommend it if you're just looking for something to kill time and you want an occasional laugh.

Love Unleashed

Why?

Well of course Amazon has free samples and of course it has dogs. You know I had to watch it.

What in the world?

A girl who wants to make a dog park meets a single dad who wants to develop the same piece of land.

Personal thoughts

Good choice with the puppies. So cute. The chemistry between the two main characters was non-existent and the amount of awkwardness that ensues is way too much. The dialogue is bearable for some of it but then it just falls downhill really quick. "I'll call you". "I'll answer." Those lines broke me. That is great but it doesn't make for a normal human interaction if that was the thing they were going for. Also, the little girl can't do math because she says five reasons to own a dog but then she only gives four. Something either happened in the editing or she just doesn't know how to do math.

Score

I have to give this a 5 out of 10. I think a whole point goes to the dogs because they honestly carried this movie. I mean Fred (imagine normal old man neighbor who is grumpy) was pretty great too and he even had character development which is more than I can say about the main characters. There was also a weird three dog per house law that the lady was violating and I thought that was weird because that's not how the real world works. I did some research and there are some laws requiring dogs and you better watch out for your neighbors if you plan on violating those laws but you didn't hear that from me because obey the laws of where you live obviously.

Joy for Christmas

Why?

Amazon recommended it and no it wasn't one of the free samples of the month.

What in the world?

A girl who recently quit her job has to get a baseball player to help her raise enough money to give kids toys for Christmas.

Personal thoughts

Ok we're going to start this with a prompt. Think of one trait that defines you or maybe a motivation that drives you. That would be your personality in this movie. They are cookie cutter characters that probably only exist to make money. Baseball guy likes baseball and speaks in baseball terms half the time. Stepbrother is just trying to exist. It was very plain, but the soundtrack was super good. Only kidding but that's ok.

Score

I have to give this movie a 3 out of 10. Believe me when I tell you that there is no conflict. Basically, everything good happens even if it seems that maybe something was going to drive a wedge between them. No no no that's not conflict they get over it in less than a minute at some points. The main reveal outfit (you know what I'm talking about if you frequently watch Hallmark) was trash. It looked like a shiny trash bag and people liked it. Says a lot about fashion am I right?

An Aurora Teagarden Mystery: A Bone to Pick

Why?

Free sample is always what happens when you see a Hallmark movie since sadly I do not own a way to watch Hallmark.

What in the world?

Some librarian inherits a house from an old lady where a murder from two years ago is brought to her attention. Anymore context would be nice and it's better this way to not get into all of the lore.

Personal thoughts

I thought this movie was great. I'm all for a murder mystery every once in a while to keep my wits sharp and this one kept me guessing. It was evident what was happening from time to time but then they would always throw evidence into light that would confuse you greatly. It was very weird when a baby was born I wasn't really expecting that from this (dare I say it) cinematic masterpiece. Kidding it wasn't that good but I would recommend give it a watch if you ever stumble upon it one day.

Score

I have to give this movie a 6 out of 10. It was a good watch and a good mystery that left you guessing at every time. The dating aspect of the movie was really weird and I feel like it could have been left out but Hallmark. My favorite part (which should have been mentioned more) was "Where is the skull". SPOILER: It wasn't even that important to the plot, but it was still a great addition to the film.

A Ring by Spring

Why?

Amazon and its free Hallmark movies for the month is honestly how I survive.

What in the world?

After visiting a fortune teller, main character lady is told that she needs to receive a ring by spring or she will never marry. Funniest line ever.

Personal thoughts

Should have stayed single. She was so intent on receiving a ring that she got together with her ex who broke up with her that same week. She sucked. She went through her past boyfriends and stalked them so that she could find out why their relationships never worked. That's pretty weird right? Now we switch over to the main guy and he watched/listened to her do all of this. WHY?! He was also a creep because he followed her around. They had things in common sure but no. This relationship was just a no. Also, the main guy was a man child. His office was what you expect a kid's bedroom to look like and he ate snacks that have prizes in them. I mean I respect that but it doesn't help me think any better of him.

Score

I have to give this movie a 2 out of 10. The parents were too perfect. The friends were lacking. The dialogue was just straight awful. The pacing was too slow and made me want to fast forward into the movie. All of this makes up the movie and I wish that it was never made. My mom and I had to make our own fun the whole time. That's how bad it was.

Eggy

Why?

I needed something to watch and this was recommended to me so that's the logic.

What in the world?

Um some animals team up to stop an evil crow from stealing wind that powers their city.

Personal thoughts

This movie was something else. When the title appeared on the screen, the viewer is greeted with a kite telling them that their help is needed. He then says something and says "Harder" and then a wind thing spins around. I wasn't expecting a Dora movie but it was too late and I didn't want to have to watch this later. There was a point where I thought there was going to be a song, but then there wasn't. The crow sings a line twice and it was super awkward to sit through for some reason. The king of the town had a talking tail for some reason and I don't think that should have been in the movie. It was a trip though and I can't say that I understood half of what was happening.

Score

I have to give this movie a 5 out of 10. It had charm and saying otherwise would just be wrong. I don't understand why the chick had to be an orphan, but apparently it was supposed to be something for the plot. I could barely see the correlation between the two. The chick's mom at the end uses her super vision(or normal vision), sees her child, and just says something along the lines of "There they are". That was weird and it's either where the movie ends or close enough to be considered the end. The turtle deserved more screen time and I will argue that until I forget about this movie entirely.

Fishing for Love

Why?

Judging by the title, you can tell why I would try to avoid this movie. My family was not keen on watching it so I just kind of put it on for background noise until I accidentally got invested.

What in the world?

A big city architecture lady goes back to her small hometown to attend the Big Catch festival and the Chowder Showdown. She meets a guy and she wants him to buy her dad's boat. Love may or may not merge from their dealings.

Personal thoughts

This movie was pretty boring. The characters had no personality well not true they had personality it just wasn't that interesting. The girl instantly had a plan for everything which is pretty freaky and maybe she's a robot. The guy just did not want to get to know the locals and all he cared about were his daughter and his business. The brother was my favorite part only because he seemed to be the only realistic character.

Score

I have to give this movie a 3 out of 10. It was not that interesting and they had a constant symbol of an anchor throughout the movie. I don't care enough to go in depth but he did propose with a ring that was originally on an anchor. Surprise she said yes. I don't know how long they knew each other but it definitely was not that long. I literally watched this alone and I screamed when he did that. That was weird and could have been left out of the movie completely.

Robot lady?

I strongly believe that this lady is a robot. I mentioned it a bit ago and then my mind started thinking. She instantly has a plan for any situation. Design not good enough? Oh, that's ok because I automatically thought of a different one. She also instantly has ideas on how to talk to people and interact with them. She sees the guy and she immediately walks up to him and talks to him like he is a normal person that has been involved in her life forever. She also does not like water. That's a bit weird I know but her phone drops barely in the water and she doesn't even try to get it out. She says she can just get another one sent to her. That's not real. I know I would reach for my phone if it's near the shore and it got in the water. Why leave it? BECAUSE YOUR CIRCUITRY CAN'T HANDLE WATER! It's just facts. The anchor is probably important to her because she was made from an anchor and it is her whole life. That might be weird I know but I can speculate these things if I gosh darn want to.

Love at Sky Gardens

Why?

It's a new month and that means new free movies to watch. Enter this movie.

What in the world?

A bartender spills coffee on a guy and then they have to work together to make a rooftop garden for a wedding. The wedding is for the people above so don't think that these two people are important.

Personal thoughts

This movie was not that good but that's always to be expected. The dialogue was the worst I have ever heard, but I loved it anyway. It just wasn't natural. It kept my dad entertained which is rare so that was very weird which made the movie any better. None of the main characters were interesting and the guy should have been dumped when he sold a design that the girl said she would never sell. The actors tried.

Score

I have to give this movie a 4 out of 10. It was entertaining but if you're looking for a good rom-com movie, don't watch this one. Well watch it if you want awesome dialogue but don't watch it if you want normal run of the mill dialogue that's for sure.

Super Bear

Why?

Tubi has a lot of interesting movies and here is the result of scrolling.

What in the world?

I can't really describe the plot for this one all too well so bear with me. A dad bear has to try to get his son, who now looks like a panda, back from poachers who want to send him to an unknown buyer. The crazy stuff happens in between everything.

Personal thoughts

Ok. This movie has a lot to unpack here. There was no reason to kill the dog's owner. Oh yeah there was a dog secret agent or something that was trying to break his owner out of the poacher warehouse, but they ended up finding his body tied to a chair. The animals were super weird, and I did not care if they died really. The mom bear dying at the beginning was very strange and it seemed like it made no sense. She threw herself off the cliff so that she didn't have to get caught by poachers. Are you serious?! You might be asking. I am dead serious. The dad almost shared the same fate, but I guess that would be too dark for a children's movie, so they pulled a Disney and killed a parent instead.

Score

I am going to give this movie a 6 out of 10. I was hooked almost the entire time. The bear isn't actually super, spoilers I know. All he did was use super bear strength to pull open some doors or something. He could lift up a forklift so I guess that could be seen as a superpower. Oh, the evil guy looked like a skunk. Comment courtesy of my mom. He was also working on the skeleton of a snake the whole time and was wearing a snake. I almost forgot about the beautiful pictures the poachers used when looking for the panda. I can't even begin to describe their magnificence.

Crazy Birds

Why?

I'm going to be honest and say that I missed Wownow for a bit. Not because of its static animation but because of the dialogue. Hence the watching of this movie.

What in the world?

If you read my blog, you might remember a little something called Love Birds or something along the lines of that. Think singing competition combined with curse with the same characters from the other movie. Perfect Wownow recipe.

Personal thoughts

Oh the dialogue. The horrible songs. I love all of it. I think my taste in movies has been broken but that doesn't mean that I can't still enjoy normal things. There was a strange alien guy who I had never seen before so that was nice and a gorilla and a hippo sang a song about knowing their man was cheating on them. That was a surprise and I don't know if that was a good or a bad thing. The birds were boring but Emett was cool. Emmett was a stupid newt with self esteem issues. He was my favorite until the alien. The alien had the best name and he did not deserve the hate that was thrown his way.

Score

I have to give this movie a 4 out of 10. I enjoyed it for the most part and couldn't help but get nostalgia for the olden days. Lil Wings Fresh Quills was in it so that made the movie 10 times better than it could have been if it was just them in space singing or something. It had the ingredients of every Wownow movie and that's why it gets a 4.

The Elephant King

Why?

It just looked interesting, and the remote was lagging, and I didn't want to have to watch it struggle while I tried to pick something to watch.

What in the world?

A group of hunters take a herd of elephants back to the city. Then all chaos breaks loose and that's when I lost track of what was supposed to be happening.

Personal thoughts

It had its moments. The movie was originally in Iranian so that makes sense when thinking about some of the lines of the movie. The translation to English is usually a little rocky sometimes. "Have you seen the popcorn magic?" was probably the best line I have ever heard whether intentional or not. I appreciated when the guy sang about this little girl's back story and then after his song was over immediately asked who she was. Did the dude not think that it might be just a tad weird to sing to someone about someone they don't even know. Also, the birds in this movie were so creepy. They killed people and could imitate the voices of others. Those are important plot points I think and props to whoever had the idea of killer birds (Yes yes Alfred Hitchcock).

Score

I have to give this movie a 3 out of 10. It wasn't that bad but the animation was atrocious and I found myself constantly confused. It was pretty chaotic and threw curveballs at people all the time so that was nice. It did gloss over a lot of thinks so the pacing was pretty fast and you have to be thinking about what you are being shown or they eventually end up telling you what happened to someone or why they are thinking the way that they are.
